Standard check-in is from 14:00 (2:00 PM) and check-out is by 12:00 (noon). Early check-in and late check-out can be arranged on request, subject to availability — please mention this at the time of booking.
Yes. We arrange private car or van transfers from Bandaranaike International Airport — approximately a four-hour drive. Indicative rates: USD 90 one-way for a saloon car (1-3 guests) or USD 120 for a van (4-8 guests). Please share your flight details at least 48 hours in advance so we can plan the pickup.
Yes — complimentary, estate-wide Wi-Fi covers all rooms, public areas, the pool deck and the Margosa Garden.
Our front-of-house team handles enquiries in English, Sinhala and German. Tamil and basic French are spoken by several team members; please ask at reception if you'd prefer to be looked after in another language.
The sacred sites of Anuradhapura — Sri Maha Bodhi, Ruwanwelisaya, Jetavanaramaya and the others — ask for modest dress. Please keep knees and shoulders covered, avoid leather belts and bags inside the temple grounds, and be prepared to remove shoes and hats before entering. White or pale clothing is traditional but not required.
Yes. Our kitchen prepares vegetarian, vegan and halal meals daily — the Kings Platter is a fully vegetarian set, and most menu items can be adapted. Please flag dietary needs at the time of booking so the kitchen can prepare ahead.
Children of all ages are welcome. Cots are available free of charge for infants, and extra beds can be added to most rooms on request. Our Family Room is purpose-built for small families.
Service animals are always welcome. Other pets are not permitted on the estate, as a courtesy to other guests and out of respect for the property's gardens and pool areas. We're happy to recommend trusted pet-boarding options near the airport for international travellers.
Yes — complimentary on-site parking for in-house guests, including tour coaches. The car porch sits directly in front of the lobby. For non-resident events (weddings, conferences at Margosa Garden), parking is also provided at no charge.
We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, JCB and UnionPay credit and debit cards, bank transfers (LKR, USD, EUR, GBP), and cash in Sri Lankan rupees. Online bookings are processed by Axis Rooms through a secure bank-IPG payment gateway.

Anuradhapura is 205 km north of Colombo and reachable by car, train or domestic flight. The hotel is happy to arrange airport pick-up and onward transfers.
From Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB) the drive is approximately 4 hours via the A6 / Kurunegala route, or 4½ hours via Puttalam if heading via the western coast. The hotel can arrange a private car with English-speaking driver.
Sri Lanka Railways operates daily intercity services from Colombo Fort to Anuradhapura on the Northern Line. The Yal Devi and Uttara Devi expresses are the most comfortable. The hotel is a 10-minute tuk-tuk from Anuradhapura station.
Cinnamon Air and a few private operators run scheduled and charter flights from Bandaranaike domestic to Anuradhapura's airfield (HRI). Around an hour wing-to-wing. Ideal if pairing Anuradhapura with the southern coast.

Yes. All direct stays include the buffet breakfast at Tranquil Restaurant, served 06:30–10:00. Children under 6 dine complimentary; ages 7–12 are charged at half-rate.
Yes — both from Bandaranaike International (CMB, 4 hrs) and from Anuradhapura airfield (HRI, 15 min). Please send your flight number to reservations at least 48 hours before arrival. A driver-guide can also be arranged for the duration of your stay.

We don't have a banquet hall — instead, we have Margosa Garden, our open-air, lake-facing venue for garden weddings, anniversaries, special ceremonies and corporate functions. Margosa is set on the western edge of the estate beneath ancient kohomba (margosa) trees, with a custom kitchen and event team. Site visits are welcome by appointment; see the Margosa Garden page for details, or email reservations to begin.
Yes — Margosa Garden also hosts corporate retreats, AGMs, product launches and team off-sites. We can arrange the open-air venue, on-site catering, AV equipment, accommodation block-bookings, and an event coordinator for the day. Yes — Rajarata is the ideal resting place for pilgrims visiting the eight great places of Anuradhapura. Our Tranquil Restaurant offers the Kings Platter, a vegetarian set menu prepared specifically for devotees, and we can block-book rooms for the chapter, arrange transport to Sri Maha Bodhi for atamasthana puja, and design respectful schedules for Poson and Vesak.
Children of all ages are very welcome. The garden swimming pool offers poolside service, and the two-acre lawn is plenty of space to run around. Family suites with extra-bed configurations are available, and the kitchen at Tranquil Restaurant prepares a children's menu on request.
Some rooms enjoy garden, pool or partial lake views — Rajarata Hotel sits across from Nuwara Wewa, with the estate's two-acre garden facing the lake. Please tell us your preference at the time of booking; our reservations manager will allocate the best available room from the three room categories: Standard, Deluxe and Family.
